What the heck is a BB Cream?

I'm back Bitches!

According to Wikipedia:

BB cream, also known as Blemish Balm, Blemish Base or Beblesh Balm, is a cosmetic item sold mainly in East and Southeast Asia.

Originally formulated in Germany by Dr. med. Christine Schrammek, it was initially used by dermatologists to help laser surgery patients protect, soothe and refine highly sensitive skin while providing light coverage for post-laser scars, acne and other blemishes.

BB creams come in a variety of different formulations and qualities. Some are said to have skin whitening or brightening properties. Others are anti-acne, some are anti-wrinkle, some are intended to even out skin tone, and yet others to lighten blemish scars.

BB creams are sometimes used like a primer under foundation, and if tinted may even replace foundation and some newer ones will have functions of primer, foundation, moisturizer, sun block, pore minimization and skin refining together which can save time and money in make-up.
I'd personally never heard of BB cream until I was searching Sephora for an anti-aging product that would smooth and possibly work as a primer.

What Sephora says:

What it does:
This instant morning routine gives skin just about everything it needs for a quick start. SPF protection, antioxidants for prevention, plus enough coverage to banish imperfections. The perfect primer, too. Why is BB Cream an Asian cult favorite? Clinique's clients in Asia know it means perfect-looking skin. It will take you a minute to realize it's true.

What else you need to know:
Complexions with very fair to pink undertones, use Shade 1. Very fair, moderately fair and golden undertones, use Shade 2.

I was a shade 2 for sure...the pink was totally mask-like.

Price: $37

I took it home and gave it a try.  I must admit this product is pretty great...it gives the skin a glow and evenness I haven't been able to achieve with my foundation alone.  It's not full coverage, but I felt comfortable leaving the house without foundation..which I never do.

I think my skin actually looks better and brighter.  This might be my new secret product.

Get it here.

  2. Hi Amber! Yep..this is a new product from Clinique. It's a bit on the expensive side, but I think it's worth it...anything to help my foundation last longer and make my skin look better is always worth it. Plus Sephora makes it so easy to try products...if you don't like it, just take it back...no questions asked. :)
